Shanties, Ship’s Biscuit & Spritzer

Weather permitting, on Sunday 4 August, between 2.30 and 5.00pm, the Friends of Tenby Museum & Art Gallery are holding a fundraiser on the Castle Hill Bandstand to which all are invited. The shanties will be sung by The Vagrants Crew, and the ship’s biscuit and spritzer will be available to buy. All the proceeds will go to the Friends in their continuing endeavours to support the Museum and its future.

The members of The Vagrants Crew are from Pembroke Dock and there are six of them. The present line-up has been together for 20+ years, but the group was originally formed as a folk group in 1983. They have played at many festivals all over England, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, and even as far away as Finland. They are regulars at the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival (the UK’s largest), which had a footfall of 60,000 people this year. They also play locally, as well as doing some charity work: supporting Pembrokeshire’s senior citizens, the Macmillan Trust, the RNLI and various other good causes whenever possible.
