Tenby Museum & Art Gallery was recently listed 6th place in the Top 20 Places in Wales to See Stunning Works of Art on the BuzzFeed Community website.

The museum houses a fine collection of art and artists represented in the permanent collection reads like a Who’s Who in 20th century art – Augustus and Gwen John (of course), Nina Hamnett, David Jones, Kyffin Williams, John Knapp-Fisher, John Uzzell Edwards, David Piper, Claudia Williams, Gwilym Prichard, Mark Raggett, Elizabeth Haines, Denis Curry, Grahame Hurd-Wood, Fiore de Henriquez, these and many more are part of the museum’s collection.

And then there are perhaps the lesser known names whose work is still amazing – Edward J Head (whose The Domino Players is surely up there as one of our visitor favourites), Charles Norris, James Priddey, Dorothy Morse Brown, W. Monk.  It is quite an impressive gallery and then there is also the second art gallery which features regularly changing works.   Artists working in various media who have displayed with us in the past include Philip Sutton, David Bellamy, Darren Yeadon, Caro Flynn, Rebecca Naden, Mick Morgan, Steve Robinson, Robert Raschke, Jean Francis, David Button and Graham Hadlow to name but a very small selection. There have also been retrospective shows of works by Graham Sutherland and Ray Howard-Jones as well as the annual schools exhibition of which the 2016 show was a prime example of artistic talent in our local schools.

So we would like to say a big thank you to the BuzzFeed Community for recognising this fine collection and look forward to seeing you all in the very near future.
