Today is the first of hopefully two days refurbishment of the reception desk area in the shop at the museum. The old desk (which served its purpose brilliantly for over 15 years) has been dismantled, to make way for a new desk (with drawers and display shelves and a glass fronted area) which will be erected tomorrow morning. Currently our desk is the table from our coffee shop area (with apologies to anyone who came up for a relaxing cup of coffee today!) but, fingers crossed, normality will be restored once again tomorrow.
We successfully applied for a grant from the AIM Sustainability scheme (who had already funded a professional retail review) to refurbish the shop area and this new desk forms a part of this grant. We will also be looking for new graphics (for the walls and windows of the front door), slat wall panelling and new ways of displaying our wide range of gifts, books and cards!
Thanks to AIM Sustainability Scheme Supported by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation for funding this project to take place.
