Well, the refurbishment on what was the Maritime Gallery and will soon (we hope) see the opening of the World War One exhibition, commenced today. And things did not get off to a bumper start. It was found that the support of the ceiling were not solid enough to take another ceiling and so the existing ceiling was forced to come down. Happy dusty days. Several bags of rubbish later and the gallery was cleared, at least of rubble but the rats nest of years of electrics still remained for another day. Work has started on putting the batons on the walls ready to take the dry-lining but this is a while off. Hopefully Day 2 blog will have more positive news and advancements to report…..
