Jazz and Folk Twelfth Night Concert

Tenby Museum & Art Gallery are excited to announce our Twelfth Night @The Museum fundraiser concert happening again in the New Year on Saturday 5th January. Our first occasion, in January 2018, was the first ever concert staged in the museum, an historic occasion which attracted a full house and became the talk of the town! The night will be hosted by two local music groups, Lucky Twelve and the Firebyrd Trio (and special guests) in their much anticipated folk and jazz double bill.

The Lucky Twelve feature former members of the folk-rock band The Rainkings – Duncan and Rebecca Whitehurst (guitar, vocals and violin) along with Jack Deere-Jones on double bass and Harry Whitehurst on percussion.   The band have recently launched their new album Into the Light but ever prolific have even more material to perform. All of their original material is written with a sense of time and place and the group are even named after a slot machine in a Tenby amusement arcade!

The Firebyrd Trio, plus special guests – all local jazz warriors – derive their name from that mystical bird of continual reinvention. They will perform an entirely new set prepared especially for the occasion, consisting of a mix of jazz standards, and popular songs borrowed from a range of genres (folk, soul, gospel and pop) from which they launch into flights of daring improvisation. Be prepared for unscripted moments, as they playfully engage with their song material while keeping the audience wholly entertained.

The Firebyrd Trio are Alan Argent (tenor and soprano saxophones), Jack Deere-Jones (double bass), George Whitfield on accordion and vocals and a range of special guests including a local gypsy jazz sensation Tom Gray on guitar.

All ticket sale proceeds go to the museum supporting the work we do and we hope that you will join us to celebrate this fun and festive occasion. Advance booking is advisable (to avoid disappointment on the door) and tickets are priced at £12 (£10 for Friends of Tenby Museum).

As the museum is closed between 22 December and 2 January, invites can be booked via Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.com/e/jazz-and-folk-twelfth-night-concert-tickets-53911969151
