Audience members of the Friends of Tenby Museum and Art Gallery’s event In Reflection were unanimous in their praises, calling it “a great success” and “it really brought the paintings to life”.
The event featured two performances held on the night of 29 October. The museum’s Collections Manager had written a series of creative and imaginative texts on the portraits in the gallery (which included work by Kyffin Williams and Augustus John) and these were vividly brought to life by the reader who included: Gary Tapley (who played Albert Alcalay); David Lewis (who played Frank B Mason); June Howell (who played Ida Nettleship), Dewi Rhys-Jones (who played Augustus John) and Sharon Thompson (who played Gwen John). Teifion Powell played the linking role of The Curator.
Janet Lewis, Treasurer of the Friends, said “The Friends would like to thank Mark for his wonderful written words, the readers for bringing life to those words and to Teifion and Gary for pulling the whole evening together. Also thanks to FBM, who are sponsoring a recording of the readings, and to Bruce Richards, who did the sound, and the museum staff for their help on the evening. I would encourage those who missed the evening to look our for ‘In Reflection 2’ in the spring”
Mark has written 6 additional pieces which were not performed on the night so keep a look out for this event in the not too distant future.
