Established Pembrokeshire artists Anna Waters and Dawny Tootes have joined forces to celebrate 2018 as The Year of the Sea in a joint exhibition at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery.

Anna Waters, based at her studio/gallery on Milford Marina, has been painting the land and seascapes of Pembrokeshire for many years, whether representative or more abstract, working primarily in oil and acrylic. Anna’s work is often rich in texture and seeks to capture the essence of a scene and is often a strong response to the light and weather patterns. In the collection of paintings on show at the museum, the movement of the sea is clearly a strong inspiration. Similar sentiments can be expressed about the striking aluminium sculptures created by Dawny Tootes. From her foundry in Pembroke Dock, Dawny uses free-flowing, molten aluminium to capture the movement of the sea.

Both artist work on a commission basis and hold workshops from their respective studios. Those interested in acquiring some of the techniques and working practices of Anna or Dawny can book classes via the artists, either on an individual basis or in small groups.

While both artists exhibit and sell work across a number of UK and Irish galleries, both from time to time exhibit locally at Cwtch Coffee Shop and Art Gallery in Pembroke Dock and have invited passionate curator, owner of the venue and good friend to both, Mr Michael O’Dwyer, to open their first joint exhibition.

This sales exhibition opens at the museum on Friday 15 June and runs until Sunday 29 July.
