100% Tenby -New Art Exhibition Open’s 9th March

Works from the collection of Jan Regemortel.

The Exhibition will be running in the Gallery at Tenby Museum from Saturday 9th of March until Sunday 7th of April. Official opening 9th March 2-4pm.

This latest Exhibition features Jan’s generous collection, which features Tenby Town.
Jan was born in Belle Vue Chambers, the top flat above the solicitors Picton and Lawrence. It is now Belle Vue Court, Crackwell Street. She has said ‘we had a magnificent view of the harbour, North Beach and Monkstone. I grew up loving the view and all the activities in the harbour. I remember one evening my mother waking up my sister and I to come and see the paddle steamer come into the harbour.
When I moved to teach in Surrey, the love of Tenby town, its beaches and streets never left me.’

In the late 1980s Jan’s mother bought a watercolour by Chris Last of the North Beach with Goscar looking towards the harbour, and that started the collection. Jan’s walls are now covered with original paintings of Tenby and she loves every one of them. She has said ‘Whichever room I am in, I can look at and enjoy Tenby.’
It is more evocative than photographs and the styles are so varied. Regemortel went on to say she wants to share the paintings with everyone else so that they can enjoy them too.
